“Ich sehe was was du nicht siehst” Björn Wallbaum‘s photos make spaces and situations visible to us that were prior nonexistent. In his photo series The Black And White Theories he captures the space around art – moving the space itself into the limelight, thus almost negating the presence of the actual art piece being shown. Abstract angles in white cubes or swirls of dust coming to live in the absence of light in black boxes are what Wallbaum draws our attention to.
In White Theories, it is almost like his photos slide past the art pieces on display choosing to focus on lines and angle instead. His Black Theories pictures on the other hand are snapshots in time of what is there in a black box to make a projection visible that is unbeknownst to the viewers. Not in an educational way, but almost like a magician.
It is with great pleasure that I invite all of you to come to his solo show at Die Tür this coming friday. It will also be the grand opening of Die Tür, so all the more reasons to come and celebrate.
